yep, that stands for what you thought it stands for (Same S*%$, Different Day).
i will try and start off on a positive note. the girls have been FANTASTIC lately. loving. sharing. silly. napping well. using so many words. playing as a 3some with no problem. just being normal kids.
of course, it helps that they have been happy and we have been on a regular schedule. at the first sign of a sneeze or a cough, you can bet that my heart leaps a little and the first thought in my head is HOLY CRAP YOU CANNOT GET SICK!
but then there is the negative side. and of course, it has nothing to do with the girls. it's the damned parents. no need to go into detail but if they want their children to learn manners and how to clean up and be responsible, then they need to LEAD BY EXAMPLE. common sense, right? not in this house.
today i announced to pc that this was the last time i was going to organize her room and help her find all her missing toys. i thought we had developed an organizational system for all that, but last time i checked, it was totally out of order. over the weekend she misplaced her set of my little pony books she had JUST gotten, all the components to her doctor kit and a few other things. and she had NO idea where they were.
i came to the rescue and (while having flashbacks of my mom doing the same thing when i was little.......HI MOM!) piled all the random toys in her room in the center of the floor and began to weed through them. in the end, half the toys ended up being her sisters' and i realized she has waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many stuffed animals.
from now on, if it disappears, i am not searching for it. if it breaks, i am tossing it. if they don't play with it for a while, it gets boxed up. it's a vicious cycle that always results in me cleaning, the family messing it all up, mom and dad taking no responsibility for leading the way and things then missing when we need them most. oh well.
and i swear to gawd, if i see another set of markers in this house (or actually single markers from a new set lying all over various places in the house) i am going to write on the damned walls myself. there is a new set floating around here and i have already found 4 of the markers in random places in the house.
like i said before, the girls have been great. i relish my fun time with them and enjoy how relaxed and silly they are when we get into the groove of the day. they are helpful with me and will gladly assist in cleaning up toys. they can't wait to sit down at the table together for lunch. they take naps with no complaints. they can sense when i need a hug. they give kisses whenever i need them. they show off their outfits and sing me songs.
it's in those moments that a disaster of a house doesn't matter. keep it up girls. i like it.
