Kung Fu Stylie is a chowhound these days. Anything you put in front of her, she'll try. She's become a pro food picker upper and I have taken to calling her "the shovel" during her meals. Imagine, if you will, pudgy little hands scooping chunks of banana, pushing the chunks up against the lip of the highchair tray and then scoooooooping it up to her mouth in a full motion. THE SHOVEL.
But one thing she totally flips for is grean beans. She likes them steamed and in chunks. But, she LOVES them with all the passion a baby can love, in jarred form. This kid takes one spoonful of the green glop and the spirit of the bean takes over her little body. She can't wait to polish off the whole jar. And she has no qualms on letting you know that you are feeding her too damn slow, thank you very much.
Today at lunch, I decided I was going to sample a spoonful of the miracle beans. There must be something tasty about this mush, right? (I'm not a big green bean fan unless they are done Thai style).
I taste.
I grimace.
I can't believe she loves this stuff. It seriously tastes like dirt. Creamy dirt, but still.....dirt.
Then and there I told her she would never, ever, ever have to share her green beans. She can have 'em.
**
I cannot go without mentioning a nifty little trick that Stylie has taken a liking to. It has been progressing and is now a full fledged fun time. Since sitting up and crawling, she has figured out she can pivot on her bum to turn around. For example, she is facing one way, when she realizes that her favorite wooden hippo is to her right. She shuffles her little feet so that she turns around on her bum (sit and spin for babies....). Mission accomplished.
But now, she does it purely for the fun of it. She likes to go into the entry way from the back service porch and just spin to her heart's content. Diapers have begun to fuzz up on the bottom due to the friction she creates when spinning on the carpet. But the 4 toothed grin on her face makes it all that much more fun to watch.
